Full-Time, Day Shift

1-3 Years Work Experience

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

The collaboration with the Director of Nursing (DON) and the Executive Director (ED), the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the nursing and direct care staff.  The ADON assists the DON in coordinating and supervising nursing and direct care staff to deliver care which will ensure that the resident’s needs are met through resident service plans, physicians’ orders, community policies and procedures, and federal, state and local regulations.

The ADON is directly responsible to the Director of Nursing at the community level for the overall coordination and execution of nursing services and resident cares. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Assists the DON to ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage in the community.
  2. Provides oversight of care implementation by direct care staff; recognition of deviation from the service plan.
  3. Medication Management, including oversight of medication storage and administration. Carry out physicians’ orders in a timely manner.
  4. Participates actively in the Primrose community’s quality improvement process, including regular attendance at, and reporting to the Quality Committee. Participates in ongoing facility efforts to improve the overall quality of the nursing care, including efforts to evaluate and address the causes of various care-related problems and deficiencies.
  1. Knowledgeable of state and other applicable regulations and demonstrates ability to implement and maintain compliance with these regulations governing the community, resident care, and any applicable reimbursement.
  2. Assists the DON in appropriate delegation of non-licensed nursing staff as outlined by the State Board of Nursing and specific State regulations.
  3. Proactively develops positive employee relations. Promotes teamwork, mutual respect, and effective communication.
  4. Assists the DON in monitoring care for residents receiving services through third party providers, assuring documentation requirements are met.
  5. Maintains confidentiality within the workplace with all written and verbal communications pertaining to residents, staff, and community operations.
  6. Assists with orientation/training of new staff to job responsibilities as needed.
  7. Assists in scheduling of nursing and direct care staff.
  8. Implements and contributes to the evaluation of the resident’s response to service plan of care, medication and treatment plans.
  9. Observes changes in resident status, needs or preferences and documents and reports appropriately.
  10. If providing care in a Primrose Memory Care community, actively engages and assists in ensuring person-centered approaches with programming and behavioral expressions are carried out per Primrose Memory Care Program.

Job Requirements

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

Knowledge of current state laws and regulations that apply to the assisted living setting.  Has strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize responsibilities.  Demonstrates leadership skills in principles of team building, motivating others, and conflict management/resolution. Knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease, other dementias and related memory impairments is preferred.  Basic knowledge of computer software and programs required, minimum working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Word.

Able to work varying shifts and call time.  Typically, this role is part time with additional floor nurse shifts.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Current, active practical nurse license or registered nurse license in the state the community is located in.  Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification per state regulations.  Meet annual continuing education hours required for nursing license if applicable.  Experience in long term care or assisted living environment is preferred.
